Highly recommend Oasis Eco Camp. It's a nice spot to set up a campsite. They provide tents but you can also take your own. They also have rooms that are fairly priced. The rooms have thatched roofing which is ideal for hot weather. You can take your own food and cook for yourself. They provide kitchen equipment for it. The camp is off-grid in terms of electricity. So at times they may switch off the power but some utilities can still run like sockets to charge your devices. They also light up a camp fire at a small cost by the lake. An ideal way to while away a night over there as you watch the stars and the take in the breeze from the waters.
This hut is great for those who want to be in nature but still have a comfort of your own kitchen, shower and bathroom. The showers were hot and beds were comfy except that mosquito nets provided were too small for the beds so we couldn't use them. We recommend you carry your own repellent, insect killer, your own BBQ gears including a grill, logs and charcoal. The only major problem we encountered was rats running around in the kitchen, ceiling and bedrooms at night so we couldn't sleep well. I guess if you come psychologically prepared that would be helpful. The guys at the site came to put rat poison but it didn't improve. You should also carry enough drinking water because the tap water might be safe if boiled but it is a bit brown in color. Everything provided in the kitchen worked well although there is no fridge. It is about 15mins drive from Gilgil town and the road is not bad but we recommend arriving there before dark to avoid getting lost. We didn't meet David but he was friendly on phone, also the staff on site was very helpful and responsive. The location is great with a wide view of the lake and it is also an easy drive away from the hot spring and the sleeping warrior mountain. There is a small ground which our kids enjoyed too, although the basketball court is small and run down. The grass area is beautiful except for dog poop. Next time we would choose camping with our own gear rather than hiring a cottage mainly because we can't tolerate rats. It is a quiet, peaceful place and we enjoyed our stay overall. A magnificent place on the shores of Lake Elementaita. The canvas tents offer a great view of the lake it's beautiful pink flamingos and other animals. The cottages are made from grass roofing and other natural materials and they blend seamlessly with nature. Fairly nice food offered in the restaurant.
Nice quiet place situated right next to lake Elementaita. It has a great atmosphere. The rooms/tents are nice, clean and neat. They have a generator so there is lighting at night. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great place to do bird watching
The place is awesome and the service is really good.
The food the food the food..real food literally made real good. The views of the lake... In touch with nature... And yet to explore many activities at the camp And of course a place for the kids to play
