Chinga Dam Recreation Point

A seriously under-utilised recreation point in Nyeri county. The views of the lake against the backdrop of the Aberdare Ranges are unmatched. One can take a boat ride for approximately kshs 200 (1.9) per person, enjoy fish from the lake or just have a relaxing rest by the lakeside. There is a mini waterfall near the lake that forms an optional short hiking tour that one can take to fully appreciate the splendour of this recreation point. The road leading to the lake is tarmac and navigable by any car. What’s missing from this point is a good hotel, resort or lodge and such amenities are available only as far as Othaya or Nyeri town which are tens of kilometres away. All in all, probably one of the most breathtaking places and I guarantee you will walk away relaxed and in awe of how beautiful this country( and by extension, the world) is. Highly recommended.
