Our current first line product in business is extraction of artemisinin, the first active ingredient in ACT, for the treatment of malaria. Artemisinin is extracted from Artemisia annua, a palnt that we contract farmers all over east Africa to grow and sell the dry leaf to the company for extraction at the factory at EPZ Athi River. After that we sale it to our Customers in Europe, China and India. ACTs are the current first line treatment approach to malaria infection all over the world. Some othe customers include Novartis, Aventis and IPCA Labs. We have a large multinational organisations backing our innitiative such as IFC, USAID, ACUMEN FUND GTZ etc. It is a two pronged approach to poverty in africa, fighting the malaria menace whilist employing the same poor people to earn a living by growing this non native crop.
