Read and write reviews about wPOWER - Partnership on Women's Entrepreneurship in Renewables. The Partnership on Women’s Entrepreneurship in Renewables (wPOWER) promotes the pivotal role of women in clean energy entrepreneurship, addressing both energy poverty and climate change. wPOWER has so far empowered a network of over 5,500 clean energy entrepreneurs working in underserved rural areas in the global South, and provided improved clean energy technology access to over 2.9 million people. wPOWER recognizes the burden of energy poverty that affects women disproportionately through health impacts and drudgery, yet their participation is limited across the entire energy value chain. To this effect we have set the goal to support over 8,000 women entrepreneurs and leaders by 2018 to enhance access to renewable resources and adoption of energy efficient technologies in local communities. This expanded partnership envisions collectively tapping the potential of women across the value chain; from design to distribution, while simultaneously advocating to accelerate and sustain the achievement of its vision.
