Flone Initiative is a Trust in Kenya; Kiambu County founded in 2011 and officially registered as a charitable trust in 2013. The Initiative main activities are community sensitization on sexual harassment, training of public transport operators, implementing the women in transportation program and ensuring victims of harassment obtain justice. Flone Initiative through the Usalama wa Uma Program engages public transport operators by offering trainings in gender equality, prevention of sexual violence, improving customer service, and in personal and professional development. Flone Initiative has so far trained 513 public transport workers in Embakasi, Kayole, Bungoma, Githurai 45, Kisumu, Nyeri and Nakuru. In 2017, Flone Initiative is implementing activities in Kayole, Embakasi and Githurai 44. Flone initiative is additionally implementing the Women in Transportation Program (WIT) aimed at bridging the gender workforce gap in the public transport by making the industry attractive to women and girls, retaining those working in the industry but advancing them professionally.
