Very rich history. Fort Jesus is such a beautiful museum. Get a tourist guide if you can so they can take you around the place and learn more about every structure at the museum.

This place is so rich with ancient antiques and history. I loved it because I had to stand in the first church in Kenya. The location is great and the history is marvelous.
A historic place not to miss while in Mombasa, for the lovers of History this is a great place to visit and learn about the Portuguese and Oman during the early days. There are tours guides nearby who help you and explain how the place came into existence. It's also has a nice view of the ocean from the top.
It's got great views a nice ambience the omani house is in excellent condition not much but everything else is put there and left to wither away and then we will spend a lot to repair it. It's a nice place to go but very little to learn you already know everything.they can do more but they won't so..
Very rich history about the Portuguese, Spanish and British conquering of the coastal area. A lot to learn about!
You can go if you're interested in learning history. A lot of info is tagged on the photos and artefacts, so you don't have to pay a guide if you don't want to.
It is a great ideal place for anyone looking to learn more about Kenya's slave history.
We visited Fort Jesus in the morning and had a guided tour of the fort. We chose a guide outside and i would highly recommend having a guide as you learn so much more than just walking around on your own. We also visited the fort in the evening where they have a light show projected onto the fort walls. This was an amazing show with narrative history of the history of the fort. It ends with a short fireworks display. You pay for both experiences at time of entry.
