Jim Karaffa Business Academy for Women was founded as a collaboration between Edel Quinn Odongo from Kenya, the Late Fr. Jim Karaffa (American) a Holy Cross Catholic Priest and the Office of Student Affairs at the University of Notre Dame located in the United States. The group initiated the programme so as to participate effectively in emancipating poor women in the Kibera slum and beyond from the Abyss and trap of degradation and poverty to a higher splendour of dignity and prosperity. This is the first Business Academy for women not just in Kenya but in sub-Saharan Africa and one of a kind.
