Some of the problems we address are language disabilities, voice impairments, stuttering, articulation; such as when a child or adult has trouble making a certain sound, and swallowing. We offer early intervention programs for children who have developmental delays as well as those with special conditions such as autism, downs syndrome etc. to help them communicate effectively. We also help the hearing impaired and those with cleft lips or palates who must work to produce words. In addition, we address the needs of persons who exhibit difficulties with cognitive functions (attention, memory, problem solving), literacy, social interaction, and swallowing. We also offer swallow rehabilitation for patients who have had stroke. This is mainly through assessing the swallowing function and ascertaining that there is no aspiration occurring during feeding of the patient. This aids in preventing aspiration pneumonia thus ensuring smooth recovery for patients after suffering stroke. The senior Speech and Language therapist at SLT Support is a graduate of the University of Reading UK; with over 5 years’ experience practicing as a Speech and Language Therapist at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi Kenya.
