Very impressive volcanic crater. The climb from the gate up to the crater rim takes about an hour. The circumnavigation along the ridge took about two hours. On hot days it can be unbearably hot up here between the volcanic rocks, so be sure to bring enough water. The view of Lake Naivasha and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. A guide is not necessary for the hike, unless you are interested in explanations about the local nature and the history of its origin, etc. Absolutely worth a visit!

Mt. Longonot is a fair hike if not easy. Actually I find it easy compared to other hikes I’ve done in the past. Took us less then 4 hours to go up the crater, round and back to the gate. We would have done it in 3hrs if we didn’t have a 8yr old girl who just amazing at this hike being her first major hike. Mt. Longonot is an easy hike if you’re reasonably fit

The hike is quite demanding, but a great experience especially if you choose to go around the rim (crater). The views and scenery are breathtaking. If planning to go around the rim, it's better to do so with a friend. Carry enough drinking water (in reusable water bottles as disposable plastic bottles have been banned) and prepare accordingly to avoid sunburns especially on the face.

It's quite the challenging trail. We hiked for about 3Km then a 7.2Km trail around the crater. With a plain view of Lake Naivasha at the top. I spotted a 40cm snake crossing my trail I was scared. You could also spot a few zebras. *Carry water in water bottles avoid snacks and water/drinks in disposable plastic bottles *It's very hot, come with some light clothing and a hat . *Keep the park clean

Always such a beauty! Easily accessible from Nairobi, well taken care of, improvements to curb erosion and maintain the environment are visible. You can always get a KWS game ranger guide.

A very nice hike. Walking around the rim of the volcano is spectacular. However, very expensive entrance fee for non residents of Kenya.

An excellent hike for the beginners out there. It's self guided with clear trail and takes about 1½hrs or less to reach the crater and 3hrs to go round the crater. Advice; .Tackle the crater in the anticlockwise direction as its much easier and takes a shorter time to reach the peak .Have shoes with good grip and a hiking stick Will come in handy for going up and down the steep sections .Avoid going during the rainy season as the terrain will be really slippery .Get there by 10.30am if you intend to go round the crater so that you have ample time before it gets dark account for 5hrs .carry water and a snack

It's fun having a nature trail at the park. A few animals you will see on the way like antelopes and warthogs
