I saw Prof. Elly once, and apart from keeping everyone waiting for about 4 hours, I found him courteous and professional. He recommended an endoscopy, which he performed on me at a later date. Despite the procedure costing KES 36,000.00, I was never able to see Prof. Elly again to discuss the results, though I saw his colleague, who quickly brushed through the results. I requested for a report of the endoscopy so that I could discuss it with my primary doctor. I had to follow up immensely just to get the report, and Prof. Elly's receptionists made me feel very unwelcome. One of his receptionists, a Mr. Were, would hang up on me before I even finished the conversation, and his attitude made me feel like I was asking for a huge favor, yet all I was only asking for was a doctor’s report for an endoscopy that I paid for. Eventually, I got the report, but it stated that I was an asthmatic reporting 'migraines'. Never mind that I never reported any migraines. In fact, I rarely ever have migraines. The report made me question whether the endoscopy was even done, given that I had been led to believe (by Nairobi Hospital nurses) I would be placed on local anesthesia, only to be unconscious during the entire procedure.
