The Greater Horn of Africa Rainwater Partnership (GHARP) is a regional network of National Rainwater Associations (NRWA) from the Greater Horn of Africa (GHA) countries. The current members of GHARP are: • Ethiopia Rainwater Harvesting Association (ERHA) • Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA) • Rainwater Association of Somalia (RAAS) • Rainwater Association of Tanzania (RHAT • Uganda Rainwater Association (URWA) The GHARP/KRA Secretariat is hosted by KRA in Nairobi, Kenya. Legally, GHARP operates under the auspices of KRA and the KRA Governing Board oversees its activities on behalf of the Governing Council. Vision, goal, and objectives The vision of GHARP is that all people in the GHA have sustainable and quality livelihoods and the mission is to facilitate the promotion of appropriate approaches and technologies in rainwater harvesting and management (RHM) in the GHA. The main goal of GHARP is to promote integrated RHM systems and complementary technologies for water supply, food security, poverty reduction, and sustainable livelihoods. Objectives are: • Strengthening institutional capacity of GHARP and its member associations. • Awareness creation, sensitisation and publicity on the potential benefits and impacts of RHM among stakeholders including policy and decision makers. • Promotion of integrated and multi-sectoral development approaches and sustainable technologies in GHA. • Establishment of effective collaborative mechanisms, networks and partnerships.
