Great place for a family picnic, family trail (cycling, running and walking). Very safe. The Kenya Forestry Staff there are very friendly and helpful. For dog walkers, there are trails demarcated "dogs on leash" and others "dogs unleashed". I didn't encounter any animals except a few monkeys. All friendly. The trails are marked well with various colours-- red, blue, yellow and green for different distances (5, 10 and 15 kilometers). A definite 5 /5.
This is a wonderful place to spend your weekend and have wonderful meditation. You can have hiking to the the waterfall and the caves or bike along the foot path. Entrance fee is 100ksh for Residents-adults. Don't carry snacks or disposable water bottles-not allowed inside. All in all its amazing to have a day out here
awesome place to experience nature at its best, cool breeze for relaxing, no noise pollution from the city thus very ideal for picnics, nature trails, meditation and exercises
A breath of fresh air! Just 20 minutes away from the city, ascend into another dimension of bliss. Gentle walks in the nature, bicycling, jogging.. kids and pet friendly. Nice restaurant inside with a great selection of meals and drinks! Plenty of car parking and reasonable entrance fee. A great way to spend a day.
Very good walking spot. Secure
Cool place to be for the nature and outdoor enthusiast
By far the best place in NAIROBI for a day out, everything about this place is fantastic! The jogging/walking trail, the picnic spot, the restaurant and the location. Situated in the heart of nairobi, if you plan to spend an amazing day in Nature, please go to Karura forest. There are tennis courts, a sports ground and a cycling trail. You can either bring your own bike or rent one at a nominal cost. There’s an amazing waterfall where you can take great pictures and take a breather halfway through your walk/jog. The picnic spot is just superb, An extremely clean and serene environment with nice benches to sit and have a good meal with your friends and family. There is a slide and swing for kids to play while you rest and enjoy the greenery. If you are lucky you might see some baby deer running around. This is the best worst kept secret in Nairobi and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. God bless the guy who took the initiative to preserve this forest, you have made many people happy :)
