Our vision - to promote Kenyan rural and Peri-urban communities where smallholder farming communities sustainably live in food-secure, productive and competitive agribusiness systems. Our mission - to empower smallholder farmers to sustainably improve their livelihoods through innovative access to information, technology, means and markets. As an institution we pride ourselves on our core values of commitment, creativity, innovativeness, hard work, persistence and team work. We greatly value the principles of networking, partnerships and open mindedness in order to build strong collaborations and congruence of minds. We strive to be a quality and credible institution, accountable to all our donors and stakeholders. We are respectful of one another background, experience and knowledge and work towards building long term relationships with those that we serve. As an institution, we give cognizance to the fact that we work on a fragile planet needing special attention to environmental, water and energy conservation, human and animal welfare. We operate across 9 counties in Kenya namely; Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Embu, Kirinyaga, Meru and Tharakanithi. Our activities focus on animal welfare and care, conservation agriculture and renewable energy. In partnership with Brooke EA with the support of The Brooke Hospital for Animals of UK, KENDAT has been running The Heshimu Punda (Respect the Donkey) Programme for over 10 years. The project advances practical community knowledge transfer efforts in donkey health & husbandry management, preventive care and policy influencing, among other livelihood interventions. As an authority in Conservation Agriculture and renewable energy, KENDAT, specializes in matters of exposure to information, technology, means and markets, climate change mitigation interventions, solar water pumping, drip irrigation, household lighting among other resilient and renewable energy applications.
