The Population density is 183 people PER SQ. KM. The main communities in the county are the Embu, Mbeere, Kamba and other cosmopolitan communities in the urban centres. The County constitutes of 4 constituencies; Manyatta, Runyenjes, Mbeere North and Mbeere South. The county is home to Mwea National Reserve and 3 of the 7 Kenya famed hydroelectric water dams along the river Tana i.e. Kamburu, Kindaruma and Kiambeere.
