I would highly recommend riding the first class coach. The other is fine with good air conditioning but a little bit overcorwded. NO SOCIAL DISTANCING ALSO!!!!

Nairobi SGR is a hyper modern building in the middle of nowhere. Stunning views. Chinese influences are big, as if you are in China. The process before embarking the train was bad. It took a long long time, had several baggage checks, a lot of abuse of power by policemen/army. Had to line up, dogs sniffle trough stuff, bags are checked way too much by digs, humans and xray. Please be on time since embarking process takes a long time, at least 30 minutes. Annoying really. Ticketsystem is annoying cause you can only pay by mpesa if you want to book online. They can’t get into the system at the station so if you do not have reservation code you can’t print your ticket. Chinese lean system implemented in a ‘un’lean Kenyan system, that doesn’t go well. The railway staff was friendly, the trains leave on time. The views from the train are nice. Trains are clean.
No control measure being enforced. People are going through without IDs, masks on the chin and no social distancing at all. Crowds of people when people alight. The same level of order in trying to get people on the train should be applied. Staggering the exits would help.
Seamless passage and high security standards. Food and drinks is abit expensive. The washrooms are somewhat dirty.
